There is no doubt about it, when teams work well together in a spirit of collaboration, cooperation and care for one another, organisations become more efficient and profitable.
Right now, morale in many “workplaces” is low. Teams I have spoken to tell me that the mood has dipped and that some colleagues seem to have disappeared off the grid.
All is not lost though! Team spirit can still be nurtured. Start with yourself and consider how the small things you do can help create a positive culture within your team.
Can you lighten the load for a colleague and take some of the pressure off by volunteering to take on tasks that they are not getting around to? And try just helping without looking for anything in return.
If a new person has started on your team remotely, take them under your wing. This could involve meeting them for a walk, a physically distant lunch in the park or even just a phone call to welcome them to the team.
Even the smallest gesture right now can make a massive difference, cementing bonds and setting the tone for your team in the process.
