When budgets are tight and jobs are being cut, does it feel a bit frivolous engaging in team building activities?
In my opinion, it is during unsettled times like these that team-building activities are most needed. Employees may be worrying about the future of their job or the company as a whole. Management needs to communicate clearly with their employees, acknowledging their stress and reassuring them that they are committed to reducing that stress.
Team building activities at a time like this give an opportunity for collective problem solving and enable team members to express vulnerability and empathy together.
Here is this weeks’ suggestion: A Virtual Scavenger Hunt!
•Break your team in to mini teams and give each the same list of challenges to complete.
•Groups then allocate tasks to each member and stay connected throughout the hunt via their preferred app.
•Each task needs to be photographed and then posted to the company chat group.
Task Ideas: Keepie Upies with a toilet roll / A dance with your pet / Wear your clothes back to front / Wear as many hats as you can manage.
